Effect of Pressure on Hydrogen Isotope Fractionation in Methane during Methane Hydrate Formation at Temperatures Below the Freezing Point of Water

چکیده

Isotopic fractionation of methane between gas and solid hydrate phases provides data regarding hydrate-forming environments, but the effect pressure on isotopic is not well understood. In this study, hydrates were synthesized in a cell, hydrogen isotope compositions residual hydrate-bound gases determined. The δ2H formed below freezing point water was 5.7–10.3‰ lower than that methane, indicating generally encapsulates lighter molecules (CH4) instead CH32H. factors αH-V range 0.9881–0.9932 at temperature 223.3–268.2 K 1.7–19.5 MPa, respectively. Furthermore, increased with increasing formation pressure, suggesting difference isotopes surrounding yields pressure. Although differences observed study are insignificant, precise analyses natural same area enable determination during formation.

Hydrogen isotope fractionation in methane plasma.

The hydrogen isotope ratio (D/H) is commonly used to reconstruct the chemical processes at the origin of water and organic compounds in the early solar system. On the one hand, the large enrichments in deuterium of the insoluble organic matter (IOM) isolated from the carbonaceous meteorites are interpreted as a heritage of the interstellar medium or resulting from ion-molecule reactions taking ...

Preservation of Carbon Dioxide Clathrate Hydrate Coexisting with Sucrose at Temperatures below the Water Freezing Point under Atmospheric Pressure

This paper reports the influence of sucrose on the preservation of CO2 hydrate crystal samples. The particle diameter of hydrate samples were 1.0 and 5.6-8.0 mm. Mass fraction of sucrose in the sample was 0.16. The samples were stored at the aerated condition under atmospheric pressure and at the temperature of 253 or 258 K. The results indicated that the mass fractions of CO2 hydrate in the sa...

Experimental Measurement of Methane and Ethane Mole Fractions during Gas Hydrate Formation

The super-saturation condition has to be provided to form gas hydrates. Consequently, the prediction of the guest molecule fraction in the aqueous phase is crucial in the study of the gas hydrate kinetics. In the present work, several experiments were carried out in a semi-batch reactor in order to determine the mole fraction of methane and ethane during gas hydrates formation (growth stage...
